Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how LectureTranslate handles information when organizations use our website, Admin app, and Listener app for live translated sessions. It should be read together with our Terms of Use.
Information we process
- Account information: email address, display name, authentication provider, and organization membership.
- Session information: session title, selected languages, vocabulary terms, session status, and timestamps.
- Transcript information: text recognized from a speaker's live audio and its requested translations.
- Device and delivery information: notification permission state and an Expo push token, where notifications are enabled.
- Billing information: subscription identifiers, plan, billing status, and renewal date. Payment-card details are handled by PayPal and are not stored by LectureTranslate.
- Support and operational information: messages sent to us, security logs, and service-usage records needed to protect and operate the service.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate users, manage organization access, deliver live captions and translations, send requested session notifications, provide billing access, prevent abuse, investigate service problems, and improve reliability.
Service providers
We use service providers to operate LectureTranslate. Depending on the feature used, this can include Google Firebase and Google Cloud (authentication, database, hosting, and security), Deepgram (speech recognition), DeepL (translation), Expo (push-notification delivery), PayPal (billing), and Brevo (operational email, when enabled). These providers process only the data needed to provide their service.
Audio and transcripts
The Admin app streams live audio to the speech-recognition provider to generate captions. The current product stores transcripts and translations for completed sessions. Audio recording storage is not enabled by default. Organizations are responsible for giving speakers and attendees any notice or obtaining any consent required by applicable law before starting a session.
Sharing and access
Organization administrators can access their organization's sessions. Listeners can access only sessions from organizations they joined with a valid invite code. Authorized LectureTranslate operators may access limited operational data when needed for support, security, or billing administration. We do not sell personal information.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and session data while an organization uses the service, unless deletion is requested or a longer period is required for legal, security, or billing reasons. Organization administrators can delete completed sessions. A detailed retention schedule will be published before commercial launch.
Security
We use access controls, authenticated server-side operations, encrypted transport, and provider-managed security controls designed to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security; users must keep credentials and invite codes confidential.
Your choices
You can update your display name, manage your account credentials, revoke notification permission in your device settings, and ask your organization administrator about organization-held session data. Depending on applicable law, you may have additional rights to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your data.
Contact and updates
For privacy questions, first contact the organization that invited or registered you. A dedicated LectureTranslate privacy contact and finalized legal entity details will be published before commercial launch.
Launch note: This policy is a product draft and must be reviewed and completed with the service owner and qualified legal counsel before a commercial launch.
